Fishing has been on the daily agenda and Caleb has decided that he really likes Walleye fishing, so he topped his last catch by hauling in this 26.5" Walleye! Once again it was catch and release, keeping smaller fish for great dinners.
Then it was almost an inferno because we had to fit 13 candles on the birthday cake this year!!
Back to fishing...Grampa is ready with the net for Caleb's next catch from the south end of Russell Island on Lake of the Woods.
The catch this time? A 33" Northern Pike! Definitely catch and release...
after it sufficiently slimed his new Pike shirt!
And with that another wonderful trip to Sioux Narrows drew to a close. We left Canada on July 11th and traveled to East Grand Forks, Minnesota to refill the pantry and take in a movie on Caleb's real birthday- July 12th. This time it was Despicable Me 2...a pretty good sequel to the original. After two nights it was time to hit the road with a hot & muggy stop in Oacoma, South Dakota followed by a stop at the Cabela's campground in Sidney, Nebraska. We've been on the back roads, passing by farms and deserted towns to our stop this evening at the NRA Whittington Center campground in Raton, New Mexico. We're making tracks towards Arizona and anticipate one more night on the road before arriving home.
