Lake Pleasant, AZ

P1010043

We ventured out for Spring Break to Lake Pleasant!  There is a Maricopa Regional Park on the lake and we had a great spot with a view of the lake.  The weather was spectacular with temperatures in the low 80’s and a nice breeze.

While the guys were out trying to catch the elusive nesting Bass, they did spot the burros!  The burros remain from early mining operations in the area and now are ‘wild’.  They were wary of humans, as were the fish.

Later in the week, we were joined by some good friends.  The kids were brave enough to jump into the 59 degree water for some knee boarding!

I decided to keep dry in our Sea Eagle kayaks and watched the girls take one for a spin!

A wonderful time was had relaxing with family and friends in the warm Arizona sunshine- most definitely pleasant!

Imperial Sand Dunes- Gordon’s Well

DSCF0034

Toys filled the back of the hauler and we were off to the Imperial Sand Dunes at Gordon’s Well, a  sand landscape with big dunes and good friends.

Caleb ripped through the shifting sand, following the leader.

The dunes are amazingly large and vast.  It’s important to stay close to the person in front of you, because if you lag behind you may lose sight of them behind the next dune.

Can you see our leader on the right?

Imperial Sand Dunes- Glamis, CA

P1020671

It’s hard to believe that our Christmas Break has come and gone!  When we left Tucson, we headed past Yuma to boondock on Ogilby Road in California.  We were headed for the dunes!  Our friends arrived in Glamis and set up camp, so we made our way out to boondock in the Imperial Sand Dunes!  The Imperial Sand Dunes are the largest in the state, extending for more than 40 miles in a band averaging 5 miles wide!

P1020661

This area is popular for off-highway vehicles (OHV) of all shapes and sizes.  The guys came to the area before Thanksgiving,

P1020536

but this was a first visit for me!  We went for great rides in the dunes…

and took time to hang out and play games around camp.

From racing up the dunes,

to playing on the sand hill overlooking camp,

one thing is for certain.  We had an awesome time hanging out with friends and playing in the sand!  I have a feeling that we’ll be back!
